Lost Item Frequently Asked Questions

Immediately mark where the object fell in and at what time you lost it. Place an object on the dock or make a reference point for our diver to follow once they arrive. Contact our office and provide us with a description of the item as well as its location. 

In general, a newer iPhone that is free of cracks can be recovered and will work fully, we have had phones that were submerged overnight still be in working order once we found them. Androids vary greatly, but higher end models with waterproof ratings also tend to be recoverable. If you have any cracks in your screen we can still retrieve your phone for replacement purposes, but I would not expect it to work. 

Depth, time, and size determine the likelihood of finding it.  In general if you have a large item that fell in recently we can find it rather quickly. If you lost a wallet 2 weeks ago it is a tossup as it could have drifted quite far from it's initial landing spot. We have a high success rate of finding phones when we know exactly where they hit the water. Dense items such as parts or tools are usually more difficult to find as they sink deep into the silt. Always give us a call if you are unsure if an item is recoverable, we do not want to waste our time or your money if we believe the item can't be found. 

Our standard callout fee for any service is $150 and includes search time of up to 1hr. Last minute calls on weekends, holidays, or where the diver would be entering the water after 5pm incur a surcharge of $150, and any service where the diver is in the water past sunset incur a surcharge starting at $300.

IF we have a diver in your marina who is still working we offer a '"quick pickup" rate of $40 for up to 15 min of searching. Generally if we know where the item fell in this is plenty of time for the diver to find it. If you would like them to continue searching beyond this initial look we will can continue at a rate of $75 per half hour. 

We offer comprehensive grid searches for high value items such as watches, jewellery or highly sentimental items. 

These can be carried out for as long as you feel is necessary. The process begins with a cursory search using eyes and a flashlight. Once it has been determined that the item is not radially visible our team will lay out a staked grid pattern to  comprehensively search for the item. 

For things such as phones and sunglasses we typically do not recommend having our diver search for more than 1 hr as a grid search will typically end up costing more than the replacement cost of the item. 

We are a family owned business that firmly believes in doing the right thing. You as the customer are welcome to stay present during the search and inspect our equipment post dive if your have any concerns about your valuables. 

Yes, our fee is for our time coming and searching and is not contingent on recovery. Our diver is incentivised to find your item quickly as they receive the same pay if they find it in 10 min or in 1hr. We do not want to be swimming along the bottom any longer than we have to.

Unfortunately we have had issues in the past where people feel they don't need to pay because the item was not found. 99% of people we have worked with are amazing and understand the time that goes into searching, but those 1% bad apples spoil the bunch. If you would like to pay by other methods such as check, cash, or zelle we can still accept that as payment, however we will need a card on file in case of delinquency. 

No card numbers are stored on personal computers, all cards are saved through the online payment and scheduling application Jobber. We will only be able to see the last 4 digits and the expiration date.
